Latvia is emerging as a tourist destination with each passing year and it is only few years that it opened its doors for tourists, after its independence from the Soviet Union. Riga is the main tourist destination for its beauty, architecture, excellent hotels, great food and above all a cultural city, with many concerts and festivals running all the year round. Summer months are peak tourist season but I am visiting during the winters and will ring the New Year bells here. The old part mainly consists of beautiful and historical monuments, museums, churches, restaurants, whereas the modern Riga has the big supermarkets, high-rise buildings with history in tow. The place is unique and inspiring with nice places to put up in.

I could not have been happier after my visit to the Baltic country Latvia and an experience, which was a pleasure to remember for long. Though, the country is not a very popular tourist destination but certainly no less when it comes to some of the best natural sites, historical places and museums. Riga is the main draw for the visitors being the capital city. My visit also allowed me to visit Riga and surprisingly it makes an exciting city though a cultural city.
